Country Music Round-Up: 15th April

Frankie Ballard has announced that his new album will be released June 10th on Warner Bros Records. The album titled ‘El Rio’ was recorded in Tornillo, Texas and is Ballard’s follow up to ‘Sunshine and Whiskey’ which was released in 2014.

Chris Lane, who released his debut EP in November 2015 is enjoying chart success with ‘Fix’, the lead track. However the marketing men have come up with a novel way to shift more copies. They have re-released the EP in a physical version to ‘Target’ stores in the US. Each disc contains two new tracks (although one is actually a new version of ‘Fix’) but of more interest is the news that each will contain a pass to meet Lane at a future concert. Fans can no doubt use their pass when Lane joins Rascal Flatts on their ‘Rhythm and Roots’ tour later this year.

We had the pleasure of meeting Maren Morris earlier this year. She has announced that her debut EP will be released on June 3rd. The album entitled ‘Hero’ will feature 11 tracks including the seriously impressive and very successful first single ‘My Church’. Her contribution as a song writer can’t be under estimated. She co-wrote all 11 tracks.

If you haven’t yet purchased your tickets for Dierks Bentley’s upcoming mini tour of the UK (why not?!!) you can enter a competition to win tickets simply by providing your details on this site:  http://www.pmtonline.co.uk/blog/2016/04/11/dierks-bentley-uk-tour-competition/

The competition closes on the 20 April 2016 so don’t delay.

Country releases this week include the new album from Sturgill Simpson, ‘A Sailors Guide To Earth’. This 9 tracker has been very eagerly awaited and we will post our review shortly!

Someone else who you may have forgotten about also returns to the release lists this week – Marie Osmond, who releases her first studio album for 6 years. Will it be country? We will soon know. Watch this space.

There are some very tasty single releases that will be sent to radio on Monday 18 April. Charles Kelly’s ‘Lonely Girl’ and  Jason Aldean’s ‘Lights Come On’ will attract the headlines, but a special mention goes out to a personal favourite of ours, ‘Bluebonnets’ by Aaron Watson, who we had the pleasure of chatting to in Birmingham a few months ago. A super guy and we know that this is a song very close to his heart. Check it out.
