Country2Country have announced a re-creation of Nashville’s world famous Bluebird Cafe will be at this year’s festival, featuring some of the biggest names in the world of song-writing! Taking place at Club WM at the O2, the ‘Bluebird Cafe’ will feature 2 sessions on Saturday 12 March and 2 more sessions on Sunday 13 March.
At 11:30am on the Saturday, Jessi Alexander, Barry Dean and Lori McKenna will be appearing. Jesse Alexander has written hit singles for the likes of Lee Brice, Blake Shelton, Eric Paslay, Trisha Yearwood and Ashley Monroe, including the smash hit singles ‘Drink On It’, ‘I Drive Your Truck’ and ‘Song About A Girl’. Barry Dean is also the brain behind a string of hit singles, including ‘Day Drinking’ by Little Big Town, ‘Diamond Rings and Old Barstools’ by Tim McGraw and ‘Tattoo’ by Hunter Hayes. And finally, Lori McKenna, most notably recognised for ‘Girl Crush’, will be appearing following her appearance at the CMA Songwriters event on Thursday 10th March.
Then, at 1:45pm, Charles Esten, Striking Matches, Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr will be appearing. Charles Esten, star of the hit TV show ‘Nashville’, will certainly feel at home away from home having spent much of his time filming the show in Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe! C2C favourites Striking Matches will be joining him, no doubt performing the likes of ‘When The Right One Comes Along’ and ‘I Ain’t Leaving Without Your Love’, both of which have been used in the TV show. Georgia Middleman is known for writing Radney Foster’s 1998 single “I’m In,” which was later released as a single by The Kinleys in 2000 and Keith Urban in 2009. She also co-wrote Tracy Lawrence’s 2004 single “It’s All How You Look at It” and Sarah Buxton’s 2006 debut single “Innocence.” Joining them will be Gary Burr, who has written a number of tracks for LeAnn Rimes, Reba McEntire and Faith Hill.
On the Sunday at 11:00am, following their appearance at the C2C aftershow on Saturday 12th, Old Dominion will be appearing. Tipped as one of the ‘ones to watch’ this year, Old Dominion have just released their debut album ‘Meat and Candy’, featuring the #1 single ‘Break Up With Him’. Joining them will be perhaps the most successful country song-writer of the modern era, Shane McAnally! Shane has written countless smash hits, including Kenny Chesney’s ‘Somewhere With You’, Sam Hunt’s ‘Leave The Night On’ and ‘Take Your Time’, Dierks Bentley’s ‘Say You Do’ and Luke Bryan’s ‘Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye’.
Finally, at 1:15pm, Shane McAnally and Barry Dean will be appearing again, alongside Nashville’s brightest prospect Maren Morris! Maren has just released her debut EP, which went straight to #1 on the Heatseekers Chart. She will also be performing on the Yamaha stage on Saturday 12th.
