Buckle & Boots Festival have added another four artists to their already impressive and immensely talented line-up. Followers of the UK Country scene will be pleased to hear that homegrown talents Laura Oakes and Holloway Road will be appearing, alongside overseas artists Glen Mitchell and Sonia Leigh!
Liverpudlian artist Laura Oakes has become one of the rising stars on the UK country scene in recent years, backed up by her appearance at C2C in 2015. Laura also recently featured on Bob Harris’ ‘Under The Apple Tree’ sessions, performing a cover of Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’ and an original song ‘Whatever You Want’. Laura released her critically acclaimed debut EP last year featuring four tracks, showcasing her wonderful song-writing talents and gorgeous vocals.
Holloway Road, Jack Cooper and Robert Gulston, originate from Southend and have been a refreshing addition to the genre in the UK with their lively, pop-country sound. Their debut, self-titled EP entered the top 10 UK iTunes Country album charts, and they have also spent time in Nashville, being invited to play the Martin Guitar stage at CMA Fest last year. They have been out on the road with US number 1 hit writers ‘John & Jacob’ for their UK dates last year, and they also have a slot at this years C2C Festival at the O2 in London.
Glen Mitchell moved to Nashville in 2001 from London, England. Since then, he has had a very successful career as a songwriter, bandleader and artist. Glen has toured with the likes of Darius Rucker, Frankie Ballard, Billy Currington and many others. He has played countless sessions, most notably lead guitar on Billy Currington’s platinum selling album ‘Doin’ Something Right’. In addition, he has made several TV appearances, including Good Morning America, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, David Letterman and Craig Ferguson. Currently, Glen is concentrating on his own artistic aspirations, and writing and recording in Nashville.
Sonia Leigh will also be bringing her diverse selection of material back to the UK once more. Every Sonia Leigh live show is one not to be missed. Rocking every crowd with heart filled, upbeat, progressive, country/pop songs. Sonia co-wrote 2 of Zac Brown Band’s smash hits, ‘Goodbye In Her Eyes’ and ‘Sweet Annie’, and she has toured all over the US with the likes of Brantley Gilbert, Eric Church, Eli Young Band, Willie Nelson and more. She captivated the audience with her set at C2C 2015, and she will be returning for C2C 2016 as well as Bob Harris’ Under The Apple Tree Roots Festival.
