Breakout country music star Chris Janson takes “Drunk Girl” to the Top 30 this week on the Mediabase / Country Aircheck chart. Called upon its release “quite possibly the most important song to come out of Nashville in years” (CMT), the reflective tune has already earned more than 16 million streams and widespread praise. The Tennessean declared the single “a shoo-in for a song of the year nomination” with its “finely-tuned storytelling,” while The Philadelphia Inquirer recently praised it for “[turning] expectations on their head… [as] a sensitive, sitting-at-the-piano song about spotting a three-sheets-to-the-wind woman in a crowded bar, and resolving to take her home.”
Janson’s intimate, black-and-white live performance video, declared “worthy of admiration and tears” (Sounds Like Nashville), has won over fans and critics alike. Its resonance and relevancy have inspired the singer / songwriter to continue bringing the story to life with new “Drunk Girl” content set to release in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, the “live legacy in the making” (Rolling Stone) is gearing up for a summer on the road. After wrapping his run on the “Reason to Drink Tour” with label mate Cole Swindell, Janson recently closed the 53rd Annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas with a dynamic performance of the rocking “Redneck Life.” Billboard dubbed the showing “rip-roaring” and “hyper-turnt” and Taste of Country described it as “electrified,” applauding the “old-fashioned country barn burner” for lifting the crowd. Janson also hit Stagecoach Festival in April, offering a set that Yahoo Entertainment praised for everything from the “Cuervo-namechecking party-starter, ‘Fix A Drink’” to the “important message” of “Drunk Girl.”
This month Janson will take his live momentum to the “Life’s Whatcha Make It 2018 Tour” with Jake Owen, kicking off on May 18 in Chattanooga and continuing through September. He will also take the stage at festivals across the nation and on his own headlining dates, including a special performance at Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4 concert.
“Between my single hitting the Top 30 at country radio, closing out the ACM Awards and a huge summer full of stadium tours with Jake Owen and headlining dates, I’m on cloud nine!” said Janson. “I’m thrilled to be doing what I love for a living.”
The Platinum-selling entertainer has enjoyed recent career milestones, in March becoming the youngest living member of the Grand Ole Opry with an official induction via Garth Brooks. His sophomore album Everybody produced his second No. 1 single “Fix A Drink” in November, the chart-topping follow up to his No. 1 debut smash “Buy Me A Boat.” For tour dates and more information, visit www.ChrisJanson.com.
