DRAKE WHITE – ‘GIANTS / POWER OF A WOMAN’
Two more new tracks from Drake White, who’s back to his very best. Both were produced by White and Jaren Johnston from The Cadillac Three.
‘Power of a Woman’ is a tribute to his wife who has offered love and support throughout the last couple of years following his serious medical intervention in August 2019, when he suffered a haemorrhagic stroke whilst performing on stage.
He’s currently on tour in the US and we look forward to a time when he returns to tour the UK.
JAMESTOWN REVIVAL – ‘YOUNG MAN’
The title track to their new album which is scheduled for release on 14th January 2022.
Jamestown Revival are Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance and they have changed their recording style somewhat for the new album. They have recorded it acoustically and have, for the first time, used a producer, Robert Ellis who is also a performer and fellow Texan.
HIXTAPE: MIDLAND & MARTY STUART – ‘BREAK YOUR OWN DAMN HEART’
We mentioned previously that Hixtape founder Hardy was releasing a track a week, leading up to the release of the Hixtape Vol. 2 collaborations album in December.
This week’s addition is a intriguing mix of the current and classic, with relative newcomers Midland sharing the stage with Marty Stuart.
The song was penned by Midland’s Jess Carson, Cameron Duddy and Mark Wystrach together with Hardy and Hunter Phelps.
COLTON VENNER – ‘JUST HAD TO BE THERE’
An independent artist from Grapevine, Texas who has been releasing quality singles over the last few months, and we had to highlight his latest ‘Just Had To Be There’ in our weekly list. He’s been on our radar before – we also loved his previous single ‘Sundance Square’.
He moved to Nashville with his wife Leah to begin a career as a songwriter. It was her idea that he relocate and chase his dream. Definitely one to keep tabs on.
MIRANDA LAMBERT – ‘IF I WAS A COWBOY’
The biggest single release of the week in terms of profile and potential chart success is the new one from Miranda Lambert who comes off the back of her project with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, ‘The Marfa Tapes’, with this track which may be on a new album.
The press release for ‘If I Was A Cowboy’ suggests that she is “ushering in her next musical era”, so we are perhaps entitled to speculate that she has more new music up her sleeve.
It’s her first solo release in two years, and she wrote it with Jesse Frasure aka DJ Telemitry who remixed ‘Tequila Does’ from her ‘Wildcard’ album.
HAYES CARLL – ‘HELP ME REMEMBER’
This song is raising awareness for Alzheimer’s dementia and will feature on Hayes Carll’s new album ‘You Get It All’, coming on 29th October. He co-wrote the track with Josh Morningstar and the subject is close to his heart as his own grandfather suffered from the dreadful affliction.
The album is the follow-up to 2019’s ‘What It Is’ and features co-writes with Brothers Osborne, Brandy Clark and his wife, Alison Moorer.
TOM MORELLO FT. CHRIS STAPLETON – ‘THE WAR INSIDE’
Chris Stapleton has been spreading his vocal talents far and wide. He features on a track from Rage Against The Machine’s guitarist Tom Morello’s new album ‘The Atlas Undeground’ and also appears as a guest vocalist for Santana on ‘Joy’.
‘The War Inside’ was produced by Dave Cobb and Stapleton, and his regular band members recorded in Nashville whilst Morello contributed his guitar section from a recording studio in LA.
KEB’ MO’ FT. DARIUS RUCKER – ‘GOOD STRONG WOMAN’
It’s certainly been a week of collaborations, and we finish with the new track from Keb’ Mo’ who has enrolled Darius Rucker. Keb’ Mo’ A.K.A Kevin Moore wrote the song with Jason Nix and Jason Gantt, who are both Nashville-based songwriters.
The song will feature on his new album ‘Good To Be’, coming January 21st 2022. The new project involves a number of country artists. Vince Gill produced 3 tracks and Old Crow Medicine Show make a guest appearance along with Rucker.
