LITTLE BIG TOWN  – ‘ALL SUMMER’

It’s been ten years since ‘Pontoon’ became Little Big Town’s first #1. It was the song that propelled them to a new level and it led to regular CMA and ACM awards for best Country group.

They have stepped back from those heights over the last couple of years, but are preparing to release their 10th studio album soon, and ‘All Summer’ is the second preview track released.

They have been in the UK supporting The Eagles and will be starting a US tour at the end of this month.

SAMMY ARIAGA – ‘CHEVY BEL AIR’

We try to cover the full spectrum of Country Music when making our weekly selection of the new releases, but can’t recall including Cuban Country previously!

Sammy Ariaga was born in Miami to Cuban parents, but embraced his love of country music and dropped out of Full Sail University in Florida to move to Nashville.

He’s making his way as an independent artist and feels that the opportunities to self-distribute his material negates the influence that traditional record labels provide.

“Artist friends: We have no excuses now. We have all the assets we need to make this happen. Get to work, quit bitchin’ and share your art”.

LEVI HUMMON – ‘GOOD RIDDANCE’

Levi has teamed up with Filmore and YABOYZ for a potential summer smash. It’s country/R&B with a feel-good, singalong vibe, and should be part of your sunshine playlists.

Levi’s been on the brink of a breakthrough hit single for a while now, and this may just be the song. He’s been writing songs in Nashville for a while, and follows in the footsteps of his father Marcus who penned songs for Rascal Flatts (Bless The Broken Road) and The Chicks (Cowboy Take Me Away).

TYLER HUBBARD – ’35’S’

It seems that we have seen the end of Florida Georgia Line, certainly for the foreseeable future. Brian and Tyler have confirmed that they are embarking on solo careers and have also admitted that behind the scenes it wasn’t always brotherly love between them.

Tyler has released another track from his forthcoming solo project, following ‘5 Foot 9’ which is climbing the Country charts.

’35’s’ was written a couple of years ago with Jordan Scmidt and Michael Tyler, and adopts the recognisable country-pop vibes that he perfected in FGL.

SHELBY LEE LOWE – ‘LOVING YOU IS KILLING ME’

Traditional country music with a honky-tonk backbone, with influences from southern rock, soul and R&B, is how Shelby Lee Lowe describes his music.

‘Loving You Is Killing Me’ is heavy on the slide guitar, and will please the traditionalists.

He was born an hour away from Music City, so it’s not surprising that his music is steeped in Neo-Traditionality.

LUKE BRYAN – ‘COUNTRY ON’

It’s the first taster from Luke’s new album, although there are no other details about that project just yet.

‘Country On’ is described as a blue collar anthem with a nod to the hard working men and women across the US.

“It’s obviously got a little bit of patriotism in it. It’s got a lot of country pride in it. The hard-working men and women out there, across the United States, I think it speaks to them really well.”

ROB MAYES – ‘MIDWEST USA’

Another who is tapping into the patriotism generated by Independance Day in the US is Rob Mayes. The song pays homage to what makes the Midwest great.

He’s probably better known for his acting work, but relishes his double career as a singer-songwriter. He also laments the disparity in salaries for aspiring songwriters.

“It is nice that we have the reach but the pay has to come up. I know the fair pay for songwriters is in the works and I hope that we can step it up.”

HOME FREE – ‘FROM HERE TO THE MOON AND BACK’

You may recall this song from the ‘Joyfull Noise’ movie which featured a duet by Dolly Parton and Kris Kristofferson.

Maggie Baugh joined Home Free for the recording and the video, and made such an impression that she has been invited to tour with them in the US.

THE REKLAWS – ‘HAY IS FOR HORSES’

Double celebration time for Canadian group The Reklaws. The release of their new single, and the marriage of band member Jenna Walker to Ryan Watson after a 6 year relationship.

Jenna and her brother Stuart have had US recognition recently with their collaboration with Jake Owen on ’11 Beers’ and have enjoyed considerable success in Canada with two #1 Country songs.
