RILEY GREEN – ‘THAT’S WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD’ (FROM ‘BEHIND THE BAR’ EP)
A quality release from Riley Green, and one of seven tracks from his excellent ‘Behind the Bar’ EP.
He co-wrote all of the songs on the project, which also features co-writers Randy Montana, Thomas Rhett and Jessi Alexander, who also appears as a vocalist on ‘That Was Us’.
The latest single ‘If It Wasn’t For Trucks’ is included. ‘That’s What I Have Been Told’, co-written with Chris Debois and Bobby Pinson, would be our choice for the follow-up.
LEAH MARIE MASON FT. AUSTIN BURKE – ‘FAR BOY’
The power of TikTok is becoming recognised as a very useful platform to develop and gain exposure for our favourite country artists.
Leah Marie Mason moved to Nashville from her native Raleigh after auditioning for American Idol and ‘Far Boy’, written about her break up with an ex-boyfriend, has already been viewed over 13 million times on TikTok.
It will cool to see if it garners support from the country radio community.
TRISHA YEARWOOD – ‘SHE’S IN LOVE WITH THE BOY (ACOUSTIC)’
Trisha released her debut album 30 years ago, and to mark the occasion, she has re-recorded a special acoustic version of the track that gave her a debut #1 on the Billboard Country Chart.
The new version strips back the instrumentation but retains the charm that endeared it to her fans back in the early 90’s. The track will also be included on her deluxe re-released ‘Every Girl’ album, which will be with us on August 13th and features four new tracks.
JESSE DANIEL – ‘LOOKIN’ BACK’
We are loving the pedal steel on Jesse Daniel’s new single ‘Lookin’ Back’. Written with long time songwriting partner Nick Foster, it will add to the growing collection of quality songs that cement his pace as one of the fastest rising exponents of traditional country music.
He’s about to release his somophore album ‘Beyond These Walls’ on July 30th, the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Rollin On’.
BRITNEE KELLOGG – ‘HONEY’
Another shout out for TikTok, and another young artist who is receiving attention due to the audience that the social media platform provides. Britnee Kellogg’s new song ‘Honey’ is following the trend set by her previous release ‘Back Of My Mind’.
The former American Idol contestant is now based in Nashville and is gearing up for a summer of US shows with her three-piece band.
MIDLAND – ‘SUNRISE TELLS THE STORY’
Midland are preparing to release their new 5-track EP on July 16th, and the taster release is ‘Sunrise Tells the Story’, a moody ballad with an accompanying video filmed at ‘The Last Resort Supper Club’.
They appear to be changing their style these days. Gone are the extravagant Rhinestone outfits, replaced by an urban cowboy feel. They are about to set out on a tour which includes dates in the UK. We seriously cannot wait to see these guys on stage again!
ALEXANDRA KAY – ‘HOW DO WE GO’
Alexandra has a massive social media following. Her cover of Dolly’s ‘Jolene’ has currently been seen by 3.7 million viewers, and her current US tour is close to being sold out. We may all be hearing much more about the Illinois native soon.
Her new single ‘How Do We Go’, written with Lizzie Cates and Matt Wynn, highlights the awesome range in her voice.
LANCO – ‘HONKY-TONK HIPPIES’ EP
The release of LANCO’s 5 track EP and the start of the ‘Honky-Tonk Hippies’ 30 date tour begins the next chapter for the popular band, led by front man Brandon Lancaster.
The EP was self produced by the band and recorded at iconic Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals. The tour begins on 12th September in South Carolina and winds up in Denver, Colorado on 17th December.
Let’s hope that the guys make it back to the UK in 2022.
RANDALL KING – ‘RECORD HIGH’
Randall’s currently touring in the States, but there has not been any indication of a new album on the horizon. However, the traditionalists will be excited by the release of a brand new track, ‘Record High’, which has been released this week.
He’s from small town Texas and includes George Strait amongst his early influences. Many now consider him to be Strait’s likely successor. ‘Record High’ is a boot-stomper that will suit the Honky-Tonks to a tee.
