Dan + Shay Hit #1 On The Billboard Country Albums Chart

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Award-winning, Platinum-selling duo Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) are celebrating the July Fourth holiday a little early this week with some fireworks of their own as their self-titled album (AVAILABLE HERE) debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart, accumulating more than 200,000 album equivalents and 200,000,000 streams along the way. The hit-making pair is also enjoying their fourth No. 1 single as their global smash “Tequila” sits atop both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase / Country Aircheck charts.

“We felt this was the perfect project to make a self-titled record,” said Mooney. “This album represents who we are and where we’re going. We’re so proud of every song and can’t wait to see where it takes us. It takes an army to have a successful release. I’m so thankful to our team for letting us make the album we wanted, and I’m thankful to my partner in crime, Dan Smyers, for making the record we needed. The biggest thank you goes to our fans – we couldn’t make music with no one to listen to it. We love you all and we hope you love this record as much as we do.”

Added Smyers, “Years and years of work went into the making of ‘Dan + Shay,’ and to see such a gigantic fan response to the release has been our most fulfilling career experience to date. It’s unbelievable that ‘Tequila’ has simultaneously provided us yet another milestone. We’re so thankful for the support country radio has shown us since the beginning and, still to this day, there is no better feeling than seeing one of our songs sitting at No. 1 on the chart. Luckily, with a song title like ‘Tequila,’ the celebratory drink of choice has chosen itself!”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”17128″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The album has drawn the attention of fans and fellow artists spanning multiple genres, including Keith Urban, Demi Lovato, Luke Combs, Kelly Clarkson, Brett Eldredge and Shawn Mendes. An array of national media outlets have tendered their praise, with Rolling Stone applauding Mooney for “a voice that is both lithe and brawny, yet steeped in contemporary vernacular” and noting, “Dan + Shay are at their most collectively potent on the soulful cuts ‘What Keeps You Up at Night’ and ‘Speechless,’ their groove-oriented production giving Mooney plenty of space to proclaim his love in soaring fashion.” People featured the album as a “People’s Picks,” citing music with laden with “plenty of soul.”

Last week Dan + Shay performed three songs on the TODAY Summer Concert Series at Rockefeller Plaza and took “Tequila” to Ellen. Other recent activities found the duo with GRAMMY-winning recording artist Kelly Clarkson for a special Facebook Live event (WATCH HERE) in which they discussed their collaboration on “Keeping Score.” Spotify featured the mid-tempo ballad on their New Music Friday playlists in three different countries upon its release as well as Everyday Favorites, All About Country, Fresh & Chill and Daily Lift. Dan + Shay also previewed the record for fans with an iHeartRadio / iHeartCountry album release event and a YouTube Live from YouTube Space NYC in Chelsea (WATCH HERE).

“We will look back at this launch as a singular defining moment in Dan + Shay’s career and, as a label, we are experiencing historic firsts together right alongside them,” said Warner Music Nashville Chairman / CEO John Esposito. “We have never before had a global day-and-date album release. None of our artists have experienced the broad spectrum of cross-genre playlisting that we are having with ‘Tequila’ and the rest of the songs on this record. Moreover, ‘Tequila’ is the most-streamed song of all time for both Dan + Shay and for the entirety of Warner Music Nashville. This incredible duo has an extraordinary amount of talent and tenacity, and their love of music and their fans will continue to propel them ever higher.”

Committed to bringing their music to as many fans as possible, the duo is out on the road with Rascal Flatts for their “Back To Us” Tour through the summer and will join Chris Young for the fall leg of his “Losing Sleep” Tour in October. They’ll take their collection of No. 1 hits and brand new music across the globe with their recently announced six-date UK tour kicking off January 17, 2019.
