Devin Dawson is paying tribute to a very significant person in his life who set his sights “on a different kind of legacy” with the brand-new track “He Loved Her”.
To properly tell the story of this “small town simple man who lived his life like a country song,” Dawson teamed up with the songwriting heavy hitters behind Dan + Shay’s mega hits “Tequila” and “All To Myself,” Nicolle Galyon (Keith Urban’s “We Were Us,” Camilla Cabello’s “Consequences,” Miranda Lambert’s “Automatic”) and Jordan Reynolds (Dan + Shay’s “10,000 Hours” and “Speechless,” Thomas Rhett’s “Life Changes”).
“’He Loved Her’ is one of the most important songs I’ve ever written or released,” Dawson explained. “It’s inspired by my grandfather, Jerry. My rock. It’s different from other songs I’ve written because it’s simple and to the point, which is sometimes hard for me to accomplish as a writer. I’m proud of the words, the music, and the tribute it pays to one of the most important people I’ll ever know.”
“He Loved Her” and the recently released “Range Rover” will both be included on his upcoming The Pink Slip EP, available everywhere January 15, 2021.
