EXCLUSIVE: Jess Thristan – ‘The One Thing’

LifeInASong_UK

As part of the Destination Country network, we’re delighted to bring you the exclusive premiere of UK singer-songwriter Jess Thristan’s new single, ‘The One Thing’.

The song was a piano demo Jess wrote with Jessica Sharman (Ward Thomas, Dan Owen) and, was spruced up with Nashville strings by Eli Bishop (Lee Ann Womack, Maddie & Tae).

It stemmed from a conversation Jess and Jessica had in the session about the endless stories about gender bias in the music industry even though it can be applied to different situations. It’s about being constantly told you’re not good enough and not worthy of investment but going off on your own and succeeding in your own terms without compromising yourself and your art.

In Jess’ own words: “this song is really just sticking a middle finger up to anyone who says you can’t achieve something you want. Yes, you can. Yes, you will. And they can sit and watch you do it and realise they missed out on how amazing you are. *channels Julia Roberts* Big mistake. HUGE.”
