After weeks of premiering several original tracks off their upcoming album, DIVE BAR SAINTS, all-vocal Country entertainers HOME FREE return to their roots with a moving rendition of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
The clip, which was filmed just south of Nashville, sees the acclaimed quintet soulfully singing along to the iconic tune. Each member puts his own twist on the classic, resulting in the magical harmonies that Home Free has become known for over the years.
“Take Me Home, Country Roads” is one of only two cover songs set to appear on Home Free’s upcoming 12-track album, DIVE BAR SAINTS, which is expected to drop later this summer via Home Free Records and is currently available for preorder.
This release is the latest glimpse into what fans can expect from Home Free’s new project, following in the footsteps of four additional teases off the album – “Dive Bar Saints,” “Remember This,” “Catch Me If You Can” and “Dreamer.”
“Over the years, this has been one of our most requested songs, by far,” says bass Tim Foust. “We’ve wanted to perform it for what feels like forever, but with it being such an iconic tune, we also wanted the arrangement to be as close to perfect as possible. It took a little while, but when we finally figured it out and landed on this version, it felt too special not to include in the album.”
Foust continues, “There’s a reason this song is one of only two covers on the DIVE BAR SAINTS album. If you’re a Country fan – or just a fan of music, in general – you’ve probably sung along to it more times than you can count. It’s a classic, and I hope John Denver would be proud of our rendition.”
