Speaking about what he wanted to achieve with the EP, Elvie gave a fascinating insight into the struggles he faced when he first went to Nashville, and how he now feels like the door has opened for his style of country:
“This was my introduction to the world and shows who I am, not only as an artist but where I come from and the moments in life that shaped the man I am today. The twists and turns that got me here – the county roads! It was tough when I first started coming to town and tried to write the way that I wanted to write, and what was going on at the time in country music. What was working was a little ‘off’ from what I was trying to achieve. I got some push-back from time to time. I got a little pissed off at people saying what I was trying to do was gonna sound dated, and I love classic country, I love classic rock, southern rock, R&B – what does ‘dated’ mean? I want to write stuff that we’re going to listen to for 20, 30 years and I hope this EP is something like that”
