“When you hear a song that they play saying you run the world – do you believe it? Will you live to see it?” sings Keith Urban in his poignant and timely new release “Female.”
“Female spoke to me strongly in so many ways – as a husband, a son and profoundly as the father of two daughters,” said Urban, who has just debuted his latest song, Female, at the 2017 CMA Awards.
Written by Nicolle Galyon, Shane McAnally and Ross Copperman, Female is a poignant and honest song, whose lyric and spirit Urban hopes will speak to others the way it moved him. “This song for me, is pure heart and soul – it’s composition and lyric – was something that I felt compelled to record and share right now.”
In fact, it was only three weeks ago that Urban, who co-produced the track with Ross Copperman and Dann Huff, first heard Female, and just this past week that he actually recorded the song.
“I’m constantly writing, recording – finding myself inspired,” said Urban. “This song took on a life of its own, and I’m really glad that we were able to get it out there and share it with everyone.”
Urban also picked up the first award of the night at the 2017 CMA Awards for Single of the Year for Blue Ain’t Your Color, from 2016’s Ripcord album.
