Laura Oakes Releases Original Christmas Song ‘The Ones We Had To Leave Behind’

LifeInASong_UK

Returning from a busy summer touring schedule, Laura Oakes returned to the airwaves recently with her latest single ‘Welcome to the Family’. The track went on to pick up support from Apple Music, Popmatters, XS Noize and a number of key tastemakers.

As a final treat for her fans, she’s shared a sombre Christmas single. Co-written with Robbie Cavanagh, on the new track she states:

“A few weeks before Christmas last year, I was listening to the radio and they advertised a New Years Eve show, playing Auld Lang Syne and I had to fight back my tears. The song and New Years Eve itself always makes me think of the people we’ve lost during that year and how at midnight, it feels like we’re moving on without them. They become memories for the first time.”
