The London FolkFest, one of the UK’s most boutique live music festivals, returns to Balham for its 6th consecutive year.
Over four nights – kicking off tomorrow (June 2nd) and closing Sunday night (June 5th) – The Bedford (77 Bedford Hill, Balham, SW12 9HD) will host the best established and emerging artists in acoustic, folk, singer/songwriter and roots music. See the full line-up below.
Since launching In 2011, The London FolkFest has brought over 500 different performers and acts to Balham by creating an indoor festival space with 3 stages spread over 4 nights inside the live music hotspot, The Bedford. For June 2016, BBC R2 Folk Award winner Blair Dunlop joins the line-up along with BBC R2 Folk Award nominee Hattie Briggs, Hunter and The Bear, Nizlopi’s Luke Concannon, Balsamo Deighton, Ellie Makes Music, hotly tipped blues newcomer Emma King and dozens more.
The event also has a fringe element with free shows this year in local venue Lavish Habit.
Tony Moore, Festival director enthuses, “Over the years we have been proud to play a part in the careers of artists like Ed Sheeran, Jamie Lawson, KT Tunstall, James Morrison, James Bay and so many others. The London FolkFest gives us an opportunity to introduce more amazing new music to our audiences in a fantastic environment over one great weekend.”
The Bedford is a multi-award winning pub and venue in South West London that not only has a very active music programme but also hosts London’s longest running comedy club in one continuous venue, The Banana Cabaret.
Tony Moore is a musician, songwriter and promoter and has worked with The Bedford for 14 years as Musical Director. He previously played keyboards for Iron Maiden and Cutting Crew (I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight) and currently has his own show on Soho Radio every Saturday morning.
