MITCHELL TENPENNY – ‘HERE’
One of the guys we nearly saw last month at C2C. Mitchell Tenpenny continues to enhance his reputation with an up-beat song that was penned with Jordan Schmidt and Marc Beeson. It deals with the emotions experienced when working on a truck that his late father had passed on to him.
It’s also appropriate for these times as it encourages us to appreciate the good times.
GRYFFIN & CHRIS LANE – ‘HOLD YOU TONIGHT’
A collaboration between a country artist and a guy who operates in the EDM market usually results in a floor filler. This is a little more restrained, however, and isn’t too far from the world that Chris Lane usually operates. Very little here that would be classed as country, but a good pop tune.
LAINE HARDY- ‘GROUND UP I GREW UP ON’
Song of the week for us here at YLIAS. Laine Hardy is from Livingstone in Louisiana and won season 17 (2019) of American Idol.
He’s released two songs this week and we have selected this one, but also check out ‘Let There Be Country’.
‘Ground I Grew Up On’ was written by Nashville songwriters Brandon Kinney, Josh Thompson and Brett Beavers, and we are confident that this will be a country radio hit.
TROY CARTWRIGHT – ‘ROUND AND ROUND’
Texan country music artist Troy Cartwright is back with a new single ‘Round and Round’.
He’s signed with Warner Music Nashville and “we go round and round” might just be the most appropriate lyrics for a life in self isolation! He wrote this one with Hilary Lindsey and David Garcia.
BRANDON LAY – ‘WALKAWAY JOE’
He was due to go out on the road with Brantley Gilbert and Chase Rice this year. You may recall that ‘Walkaway Joe’ was originally recorded by Trisha Yearwood, but we like Brandon’s spin on it.
THE WASHBOARD UNION – ‘DOCK ROCK’
They are Canada’s leading country band. Group of the Year at 2019’s CCMA Awards. The Washboard Union are collectively Aaron Grain, Chris Duncombe and David Roberts
They have a new album ‘Everbound’ coming on 24th April, and this is their next single from the new project.
EASTON CORBIN – ‘A LITTLE MORE COUNTRY THAN THAT’ (ACOUSTIC)
Released to celebrate a decade in touring. A song that Easton performs acoustically, to symbolise the current predicament that the music industry has been forced to adopt.
It’s a song that he released in 2009, his first single, and first #1 on the country charts. It was written by Joey and Rory Feek, and set off his career in the best possible way.
JESS MOSKALUKE – ‘HALFWAY HOME’
Another Canadian making excellent country music. Jess Moskaluke has been releasing music in her native Canada since 2012, and her last single ‘Country Girls’ was her first #1 in the Canadian country charts .
This is the follow-up to that, and is another catchy pop-country song that would sound great on country radio.
COREY SMITH – ‘SING ALONG’
Recorded at Corey Smith’s home studio in Jefferson, Georgia, this is a song that is totally for the moment.
A lockdown song that speaks for everyone who is entertaining us with virtual home ‘concerts’ since the pandemic began, and we never thought we would be writing those words.
LEE BRICE – ‘ONE OF THEM GIRLS’
Lee’s due to visit these shores in July, but that may now be in some doubt.
It’s a follow-up to the very successful collaboration with Carly Pearce, ‘I Hope Your Happy Now’, which has made the top 10 at country radio.
‘One Of Them Girls’ has been in the pipeline for some time. He wrote it last year on Fathers Day with songwriting pals Dallas Davidson, Ben Johnson and Ashley Gorley.
