TIM PROTTEY-JONES & STEPHANIE QUAYLE – ‘UNTIL I DO’

Tim Prottey-Jones has teamed up with US country artist Stephanie Quayle for his new single, and the end result is mightily impressive. Written by Nashville songwriters Jeff Cohen, Jamie Floyd and Steven McMorran and recorded remotely, this transatlantic project has huge potential.

Stephanie’s profile in the US includes appearances on The Kelly Clarkson Show and a number of slots at the Grand Ole Opry, as well as being an inductee into CMT’s ‘Next Women Of Country’.

CHARLIE WORSHAM – ‘FIST THROUGH THIS TOWN’

It’s great to hear new music from Charlie Worsham. This is his first release since 2017’s ‘Beginning of Things’, an album that didn’t bring commercial success, but succeeded in showing the world the quality that Charlie possesses as a musician.

It seems that everyone loves Charlie Worsham, yet his star doesn’t shine as high as some of his peers, and it seems that the frustrations may have permeated into his song writing.

“Got my hero on the wall, whiskey I can drink, a place to sit and wonder why I don’t get paid a thing”.

ALAN JACKSON – ‘YOU’LL ALWAYS BE MY BABY’

The full title includes ‘(Written For Daughters’ Weddings)’, and Alan Jackson’s recent comments make everything clear:

“I wrote the song for Mattie’s wedding the summer of 2017 but it was so hard to do. I told ‘em, “I wrote this song for all of you””

It will be included on his new album ‘Where Have You Been’, coming May 14th.

BRIAN CALLIHAN – ‘JON BOAT’

For those of you here in the UK, a Jon Boat is described as a ‘flat bottomed boat constructed of fibreglass, aluminium or wood with one, two or three bench seats suitable for fishing’. Probably more prevalent in Western Tennessee rather than the West Midlands!

Georgian Brian Callihan’s experiences of the river vessel form the backdrop to his fun and summery new single that we are delighted to feature in this week’s list.

LIDDY CLARK – ‘WE BOTH KNOW’

We loved Liddy’s last release ‘If There Was No Traffic In LA’ in February, and we love this new up-beat track ‘We Both Know’. It would sound great on a summer country radio playlist, and her many fans on TikTok will love it.

She’s preparing her debut album, and we reckon that she’s going places. Definitely a name to look out for.

HOME FREE & JEFFREY EAST – ‘PEOPLE’

Home Free’s many fans will be intrigued by this collaboration with Jeffrey East which includes instrumentation – a rarity for the masters of vocal improvisation.

The song was written by East, Michael White and Ryan Plappert, and is an uplifting mid-tempo ballad which inspires love and tolerance.

Home Free are hoping to announce a tour for later this year, and fingers crossed it will include some UK dates.

MATT JORDAN – ‘ALL THE SAME TO ME’

New music from Missouri-based Matt Jordan is always welcome, and his new release ‘All The Same To Me’ doesn’t disappoint.

The song was produced by Grammy-nominated Sal Oliveri, who has previously worked with Chris Stapleton, Sheryl Crow and Pink, and retains the raw Springsteen-like appeal of Jordan’s voice and music.

BROTHERS OSBORNE  – ‘YOUNGER ME’

Written with Kendall Marvel, the new single from TJ and John is a welcome return for the brothers, who have been in the media spotlight recently.

TJ recently came out, and John has also opened up about his mental health issues whilst recording their ‘Skeletons’ album in 2019. This almost ended his musical career, but fortunately he sought help for his issues and has now been able to move on.

The guys have announced their new U.S. ‘We’re Not for Everyone Tour’, taking in dates at 50 locations beginning in July with support from Travis Denning and Tenille Townes.

HALLE KEARNS – ‘PLANS’

We finish our highlights list this week with this infectious pop-country track from Nashville-based Halle Kearns.

Her last single ‘Whatever You Do’ was featured heavily on SiriusXM The Highway in the U.S., so it seems that she has already impressed the influential people across the pond. Her last EP hit 3 million streams.

‘Plans’ is made for pop-country radio, and if it breaks, it might be a summer smash.
