BLAKE SHELTON – ‘BIBLE VERSES’
We begin our recap of the best new releases this week with a song that will surely be considered one of Blake Shelton’s finest in recent years. A very clever take on the ‘flawed character who wants to improve’ scenario written by Joe Fox, Andrew Peebles and Brett Sheroky.
It’s the follow up to ‘Minimum Wage’ and both will appear on his forthcoming ‘Body Language’ album, which will be released on 21st May.
ADAM DOLEAC – ‘COULDA LOVED YOU LONGER’
Adam’s had a good start to 2021. ‘Whiskey’s Fire’ and ‘Another’ have recently featured in a two-part music video series. ‘Coulda Loved You Longer’ is Doleac’s new release, and the Arista Nashville artist penned the track with Casey Brown and Jesse Lee Levin.
The resumption of touring in the US can’t come soon enough for the up-and-coming guys like Adam. He’s already been out on the road pre-pandemic with Carrie Underwood, Chris Young and Kane Brown.
JOE NICHOLS – ‘HOME RUN’
It’s seems an age since we had the pleasure of chatting to Joe Nichols when he toured here in the UK to a large and appreciative crowd in Nottingham. His many UK fans will be delighted to hear that Joe is back in the groove, having signed with Quartz Hill Records, a label owned and operated by long time friend and mentor Benny Brown.
He’s looking forward to resuming touring and will be releasing more tunes over the coming months to reboot his career with the new label.
ANNA VAUS – ‘BORN ON A WINDY DAY’
Anna Vaus has now made a hat-trick of appearances on our weekly highlights list. We just had to include her new single ‘Born On a Windy Day’, which continues the quality of music that Anna Vaus has been releasing.
She’s planning on releasing her debut EP shortly, and the three tracks that have been released so far emphasise the talent and potential that surely will be hard to ignore. Also check out ‘In Bloom’ and ‘Girl In A Bar’.
KYLIE FREY FT. RANDY HOUSER – ‘HORSES IN HEAVEN’
Kylie is an ex-rodeo rider who spent her formative years riding in regional rodeos, and released an EP titled ‘Rodeo Queen’ in December.
Her new single ‘Horses In Heaven’ is a tribute to her late grandfather who taught her how to ride. She had never envisaging releasing it commercially but after positive reactions at song writer rounds, she enlisted the support of Randy Houser to add vocals.
RORY FEEK – ‘SMALL TALK CAFÉ’
Rory Feek is planning on releasing his new album ‘Gentle Man’ on 18th June, and we have been treated to another two tracks from it.
‘Small Talk Café’ features Ricky Scaggs and Sharon White. ‘One Angel’ features Dolly Parton, who stated that she was keen to contribute something to the new project, and appears on the tribute to his late wife, Joey.
The album also includes contributions from Trisha Yearwood, Alison Krauss, Lee Ann Womack and Vince Gill.
SASHA SLOAN FT. SAM HUNT – ‘WHEN WAS IT OVER’
Sasha Sloan co-wrote this song with Shane McAnally, Sam Hunt, King Henry and Emi Dragoi, and enlisted the support of Hunt to perform this acoustic ballad that deals with not being able to let go from someone, even when both know there isn’t anything left.
She’s an up-and-coming pop artist who dropped her debut album ‘Only Child’ last year, and is fast building a stellar reputation both as a songwriter and performer. Her songs have already amassed over 3.6 billion streams.
TEXAS HILL – ‘NEON HEART’
Consisting of Craig Wayne Boyd, Casey James and Adam Wakefield, Texas Hill are back with a new track written by James LeBlanc, Ryan Beaver and Mike Walker. They have been able to resume touring in the States and have recently completed a weekly residency at the Nashville Palace.
The guys released their debut self-titled 5-track EP last September, having formed in late 2019. They were all former reality show contestants with appearances on The Voice and American Idol.
TROY CARTWRIGHT – ‘SHINE ON ME’
Troy Cartwright is another performer from the Texas talent pool. He’s from Dallas and combined an upbringing in the honky-tonks with a education at Berklee School of Music in Boston. He’s now landed in Nashville and has signed with Warner Music.
‘Shine On Me’ is a personal song that relates to the days when he dreamt as a 13 year old kid, sitting in the back of his mini van, of the joy of performing before a mass of adoring fans. He’s certainly well on the way to making that dream a reality.
