JADE HELLIWELL – ‘IF I WERE YOU’
Straight in at #1 on the UK country chart on Friday was the new single from our very own Jade Helliwell. ‘If I Were You’ is yet another example of the strength of Jade’s songwriting prowess, which is consistently top drawer.
Fingers crossed that we will all be able to see her perform at the recently announced Buckle & Boots Festival, which is taking place at Whitebottom Farm July 30th – August 1st.
STEVENSON EVERETT – ‘GREAT LOVE’
The man with the silky vocals is back with a new single. We loved his ‘Troubadours’ project last year, and included it in our year-end best-of list.
His speciality is “ballads and blues”, and few sing them better.
BRANDON RAY – ‘MY PERSON’
An instantly likeable new song from Brandon Ray who dedicates the song to his wife Alyssa, who is currently pregnant and is his absolute hero. ‘My Person’ was written with Christian Hale and Brian Koppelman.
He is releasing a new single every month whilst the current touring restrictions continue, but we suspect he can’t wait to get back out on the road. Fans of Brett Eldredge may recall that Brandon used to play guitar in his band.
MITCH ROSSELL FT. TRISHA YEARWOOD – ‘RAN INTO YOU’
Mitch wrote Garth Brooks’ ‘Ask Me How I Know’ and ‘That’s What Cowboys Do’,and this is his first collaboration with Trisha Yearwood, who he recruited to collaborate on his new single ‘Ran Into You’.
Garth is clearly a big fan. He asked Mitch to open his ‘World Tour’ in 2016. The song was written with Tommy Karlas and Dave Turnbull, and is the follow up to ‘2020’ which hit #1 on the iTunes Country Chart in January.
TIFFANY WOYS FT. JORDAN FLETCHER – ‘I DON’T’
A new name on our list, Tiffany Woys has dropped an incredibly catchy song that definitely has radio potential. ‘I Don’t’ was written with Chris Dubois, Forrest Finn and Jordan Fletcher, who is her singing partner on the song.
She’s originally from Sacramento and honed her stage craft on the West Coast, before making the move to Nashville.
GINA VENIER – ‘TRUST ISSUES’
Another new name, but you may be familiar with Gina Venier if you are a student of American Idol. She appeared on Season 14 of the hit US show.
She’s been in Nashville since 2013 where she has performed, written songs and occasionally played drums for other artists. She also has publishing deals with Red Door and Warner Chappell Music.
We are loving the soulful ‘Trust Issues’. Check it out.
RILEY ROTH – ‘STRANGER’
We included Riley’s ‘Came Here For The Beer’ in our year-end list for 2020 and remain mystified that she remains essentially “under the radar”.
Her brand of pop-country is undeniably infectious, and we are confident that her big break is just around the corner. Maybe ‘Stranger’ will be the spark that she needs.
RYAN GRIFFIN – ‘SALT, LIME AND TEQUILA’
Ryan Griffin is originally from Florida so we can guess where the inspiration for this summer vibe came from!
He’s already been writing hit records in Nashville, most notably Kelsea Ballerini’s ‘Dibs’. His early influences were Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett, who would no doubt appreciate the sentiments in this song.
THE WANDERING HEARTS – ‘GOLD’
The Wandering Hearts are gearing up towards the release of their new album, which will be with us on 30th July, and are also hoping that their rescheduled tour will go ahead in August and September.
In the meantime, AJ, Tara and Chess have released their new single ‘Gold’, which we think is pretty cool. They have signed a new deal with Cooking Vinyl, and the self-titled new album will be their first release with the label.
