RENEE BLAIR – ‘SOON AS I’M HAPPY’

We have featured country newcomer Renee Blair before in our weekly round-up. Her previous single ‘Heatin’ Up My Summer’, with it’s cool video, garnered 140,000 YouTube views, so she’s certainly making waves.

She’s caught the attention of master songwriter Shane McAnally, but her follow-up single, featured here, is her own composition and relates to the aftermath of a relationship breakup.

Surely it’s only a matter of time before she breaks into the mainstream.

JUSTIN LEE PARTIN FT. CRAIG CAMPBELL – ‘WAITING ON THE WEEKEND’

Another new name for us all to discover – Justin Lee Partin, who hails from Florida, has teamed up with Craig Campbell for this foot-tapper.

He’s recently been added to Nashville-based publishing company Banner Music’s ‘Banner Believes’ roster, and is gearing up for the release of his debut self-titled EP.

DONOVAN WOODS – ‘SEEING OTHER PEOPLE’

For anyone who has visited YLIAS previously, you will know that we love Donovan Woods. We recently had the chance to catch up with him for a Zoom chat.

He is gearing up for the release of his 7th album, ‘Without People’, in November this year, and we have been treated to another of the album’s pre-release tracks.

In common with everything that he does, ‘Seeing Other People’ is top drawer.

HAYDEN COFFMAN – ‘TAKE IT SLOW’

He’s only been making music for two years, but this Knoxville, Tennessee singer-songwriter has formed his own band and, pre-covid, was extensively touring and building his fan base.

He’s released five singles to date, and his latest release, ‘Take It Slow’, is a winner with its catchy chorus and excellent production.

CARTER FAITH – ‘LEAVING TENNESSEE’

Another new name, Carter Faith, from Davidson, North Carolina but now based in Nashville, enrolled on Belmont University’s songwriting program. She excelled, winning the prime emerging showcase, leading to an inclusion in the Women Of Country Music series and obvious prime exposure.

She’s played at the Bluebird Café, and you may see her at the Listening Room, together with an opening slot on Cole Swindell shows.

The video was shot at the Stardust Drive-In Theatre.

JOSH RITTER – ‘TIME IS WASTING’

Now this is a tune that we would love to hear live. Written a few years back by Josh Ritter for a movie, it didn’t quite make the final cut, but has now been released as part of an album, ‘See Here I Have Built You A Mansion’, which will be released this Friday.

Featuring two drummers, ‘Time Is Wasting’ has a distinct Paul Simon ‘Graceland’ vibe to it, and is a perfect taster for the album that we can’t wait to hear.

COLTER WALL – ‘HIGH & MIGHTY’

The new album ‘Western Swing and Other Punchy Songs’ will be released on Friday, and ‘High And Mighty’ is the latest and final pre-release track that Canadian Colter Wall has released from it.

It was previously released with the ‘Bunkhouse Sessions’, but this is the debut of the song with a full studio production.

Wall describes it as a “Saskatchewan saddle bronc song”, written by Lewis Pederson III in the 70’s.

ELI YOUNG BAND – ‘SALTWATER GOSPEL’ (FINS UP VERSION) FT. JIMMY BUFFETT

Originally released in 2016, but now re-recorded with the guy who the band readily accept was the inspiration for the song. Jimmy Buffett has added his unique stamp by recording a verse. He says that he loved the song when it came out, and was delighted to join in on the new project.

The session was arranged by producer Mac McAnally, and there are plans afoot for the two bands to join up and perform the track live on tour (whenever that might be!).

ALEXANDRA KAY – ‘I KINDA DON’T’

We featured Alexandra Kay in April, when her single ‘Dive Bar Dreamer’ was released, and we reported that she was preparing her debut album.

This is another new track from it, and it is already gathering momentum, reaching #1 on the iTunes Country Chart last week, ably supported by her huge social media following.

Great voice, and a song that is good enough to reach the mainstream country charts.

SCOTT STEVENS – ‘NEW BOOTS’ (PARTS 1&2)

Southern rock/country newcomer Scott Stevens will be releasing his debut album ‘I Feel Good’ shortly, and ‘New Boots’ is a impressive showcase for the mix of music styles that we can expect.

He states on his website the influences that have shaped his music, ranging from the Rolling Stones to Eric Church.

Part 1 has a raw country energy and part 2 features the southern rock vibes that we expect will permeate the album. An impressive debut.
