RODNEY ATKINS – ‘A LITTLE GOOD NEWS’
There are songs that encapsulate the current times, and this is definitely the moment to resurrect Anne Murray’s 1983 Grammy-winning smash. It spent 20 weeks at #1 on the country chart and was named CMA’s Single of the Year.
Rodney Atkins is heavily promoting his version of the song with appearances on the Today Show and other TV slots.
JAY DEMARCUS – ‘MUSIC MAN’
The current status of Rascal Flatts is a little uncertain, after their ‘Farewell’ tour had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
In the meantime, Jay Demarcus has shared an emotional, heartfelt tribute to his late father Stanley, who passed away on 29th October 2020.
The song focuses on the influence of his father, who passed on the love of music that inspired him to forge his own career, and led to him joining Gary and Joe Don.
HAILEY WHITTERS FT. BRENT COBB – ‘GLAD TO BE HERE’
It was only 2 weeks ago that we were highlighting Hailey Whitters’ new extended version of her 2020 album ‘The Dream’, which features 5 new tracks with guest artists. We now have another pre-release taster, featuring Brent Cobb who has fast become a favourite here in the UK.
It was Hailey’s intention to write a song that dealt with her joy that her career was gaining momentum, before realising that the sentiments had been expressed in a song written by Cobb, Neil Medley and Brent Rupard, so she reached out to Cobb for a collaboration.
Their paths had crossed previously. She had opened for Cobb on his ‘Sucker For A Good Time’ tour in 2019.
RYAN KINDER – ‘TIRED OF FLYING’
Featuring Brandy Clark and Jerry Douglas, ‘Tired Of Flying’ is the second release from Ryan Kinder’s new album.
Kinder states that Brandy Clark was the second person he met upon relocating to Nashville, but this is their first recorded collaboration together, despite previously writing and touring. ‘Tired Of Flying’ is a seven-year-old song that Ryan decided to resurrect.
He’s slated to release two albums this year. This track will be featured on ‘Ontology’.
CHANDLER STEPHENS – ‘ WOULD’VE GONE HOME’
We discovered Chandler Stephens’ music in September last year when we highlighted her previous single, ‘Bet On You’. She’s back with another song that’s well worth a listen.
Chandler is from Lake Mary, Florida, but packed her car and headed for Nashville to chase her dream when she was 19. She’s already recorded a duet with Kane Brown, ‘Can’t Stop Love’, and an EP in 2016 titled ‘This Is My Life’.
MIKAYLA LANE – ‘DRIVE’
Mikayla Lane is 15 and originates from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her new single ‘Drive’ features a pedal steel – very cool at her age.
She stared to perform aged 5, and began to play guitar at 12, so she certainly has youth on her side! She’s already recorded an EP, ‘Rooftop Nights’, in 2019 and continues to perform local gigs in Tulsa.
Certainly a name to keep a close eye on.
MORGAN WALLEN –‘THIS SIDE OF A DUST CLOUD’
We could also have highlighted the other new bonus track on Morgan’s extended ‘Dangerous’ album, ‘Bandaid on a Bullet Hole’, another cracker that we have now come to expect as standard from the hit-maker.
The extended album also includes a live acoustic piano version of ‘Sand In My Boots’. The album’s additional cuts were previously only available on the ‘Target’ deluxe version, but are now available on all digital platforms.
Wallen co-wrote both of the new cuts.
LILLY WINWOOD – ‘ONE STEP BEHIND’
This is the second single released from Lilly Winwood’s debut album, ‘Time Well Spent’.
She’s been working on the songs for a decade whilst working the East Nashville music scene, having relocated to Music City from her native Gloucestershire. She was raised in a musical environment as the daughter of rock legend Steve Winwood.
The album was produced by Alex Munoz and Allen Thompson at High Cotton recording studios in Nashville, and is well worth checking out.
WE ARE MESSENGERS FT. VINCE GILL – ‘MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD’ (ACOUSTIC)
The original was released in September 2020 by Christian group We Are Messengers, but we love the acoustic version which features the peerless Vince Gill on vocals and guitar.
The band are from Monaghan, Ireland, but have been based in the US since 2015. They are signed to Word Records and Curb Records, and have had great success with their music which has consistently appeared in the top 10 on the Christian music charts.
