THE SHIRES – ‘LIGHTNING STRIKES‘
Their UK tour kicks off in May, and their next album ‘Good Years’ will be released on 13th March.
Cam recently tweeted that she co-wrote this one with Ben and Chrissie. She described it as a “lil bobbity bop”. Chrissie said that it’s the perfect song for the summer festival season!
SONS OF DAUGHTERS – ‘I PICTURE YOU’
Probably a new name for you. Son of Daughters are Chrystal Leigh and Jimmy Thow from Vancouver.
The Canadians are on a roll so far this year. This is a happy, pounding pop-country tune that we like here at YLIAS.
MARGO PRICE – ‘STONE ME’
Margo’s spent the last year writing new material. She recently parted ways with Third Man Records and signed a new deal with Loma Vista Recordings, who are part of the Concord Music Group. She’s the label’s first country music artist, so it’s an unexpected home.
She’s gearing up for the release of her third album which at present isn’t scheduled or named, but we can guess that ‘Stone Me’ will feature. This song was co-produced by Sturgill Simpson and co-written with her husband, Jeremy Ivey.
RANDALL KING – ‘HEY COWGIRL’
He’s no stranger to our new release highlight lists. Randall King rarely fails to hit the spot. His talent has been recognised by Warner Music Nashville, who have signed him up to a new deal. It’s as country as it gets with plenty of fiddle and steel.
Look out for this guy in 2020. He’s going places.
TWINNIE – ‘TYPE OF GIRL’
There is a set pattern with everything Twinnie records and releases. On first listen, they may pass you by. Second listen, you sort of think ‘that’s OK isn’t it?’. Third listen, you are bouncing around the room. You will hear this on UK country radio and love it.
Her album ‘Hollywood Gypsy’ is out on the 17th April.
JOHN MORELAND – ‘WHEN MY FEVER BREAKS’
‘LP5’ will be available on 7th February, so not long to wait. He has released three tracks from it, and this is the most recent. It’s got a very unusual drum pattern, and it’s been created by a drum machine which isn’t normally what you would expect from a stalwart champion of the traditional brigade.
Don’t let that be a distraction. Great song and vocals as usual.
Can’t wait for the new album.
STEPHANIE QUAYLE – ‘WHATCHA DRINKIN ‘BOUT’ (MONTANA SESSIONS)
She appeared on the pop-up stages at C2C 2018, so you may have seen her performing.
This track was included on her recently released ‘If I Was A Cowboy’ EP, and has also been released as an acoustic version as part of a session she did with Wrangler Jeans entitled the ‘Montana Sessions’.
JOSH MELTON – ‘EVERYONE KNOWS ME’
This week’s newbie is appropriately-named Josh Newby, who has released his first single, ‘Everybody Knows Me’, which is clearly his intention!
He’s from Findlay, Ohio, and is another young, talented US country singer who has relocated to Nashville awaiting his first break. It’s a long list, and the competition’s fierce, but this pop-country radio-friendly track may be a chance to impress.
CARLY PEARCE – ‘HEART’S GOING OUT OF ITS MIND’
Carly’s second album will be released on 14th February and her collaboration with Lee Brice, ‘I Hope You’re Happy Now’, is still everywhere on country radio
Have a guess who this song was written about…
DUSTIN LYNCH FEAT. LAUREN ALAINA – ‘THINKING ’BOUT YOU’
Lauren has been involved in a number of projects over the last few months. Her duet with Kane Brown, ‘What Ifs’, hit the top of the Country Airplay chart and the US Country Singles chart, and she is involved in another collaboration with Devin Dawson on the Hardy album track ‘One Beer’, whcih is also being sent to radio this week.
This one is from Dustin’s new album ‘Tullahoma’, that came out last week. He’s out on tour with Carly Pearce and Old Dominion in the summer – sadly US only. That should be quite a show.
