New Release Round-Up: July 21st

We begin this week’s list of new music with the latest single from Nashville-based country-pop singer-songwriter, Olivia Lane. She shared a sneak preview of this track with Destination Country’s followers last week.

The video features clips submitted by fans. Check it out…

Flying the flag for Ireland this week is Megan O’Neill, who is no stranger to the UK country scene.

She toured last year with Tom Jones, and had big things planned for 2020 before Covid hit. This is the follow-up to ‘Ireland’, which received widespread acclaim and exposure.

Dan recently chatted with Cassadee about her upcoming new album, ‘Rise and Shine’, and she has now released the first four tracks from it, including ‘Hoodie’ with an accompanying music video, where she wears current boyfriend Sam Palladio’s hoodie.

The song is an ode to ex-boyfriends, as she revisits a past relationship with a reference to the iconic item of clothing. Written with Emily Weisband, the track will feature on the new album which is set to be released on 7th August.

Zephaniah Ohora is very firmly based in New York City, and is the pillar of the emerging Country music scene in the Big Apple. His brand of country music is based upon the classic country singers of old, and his last album ‘This Highway’ was considered by many to be a modern day classic retro country album.

He’s releasing a new album, ‘Listening To The Music’ on 28th August, and this is a taster from it.

Kenny’s year has been hugely disrupted by the pandemic with a huge tour postponed until 2021, and no opportunity to perform any of the tracks from his new album live.

However, the hits keep on coming, and ‘Happy Does’ has been chosen to follow ‘Here and Now’ as the latest release from the album.

Written by Brock Berryhill, Brad Clawson, Greylan James and James Paulin, it’s a song about chasing a dream and generally happier vibes.

He’s just celebrated his 31st Country Radio #1, and we wouldn’t bet against this being his 32nd.

This track has just been released to country radio, but was originally released in 2019 as the lead track from their ‘Catching Fire’ EP. Texas Country heavyweights Josh Abbott Band are regulars on our list with their consistently high quality tunes, and this up-beat, happy, fiddle and banjo driven song will have you tapping your feet.

It’s certainly worthy of a new push towards the top of the charts.

His third album ‘The Country’ will be with us via Thirty Tigers on September 4th, and this is the first release from it. He records on the West Coast in California and he has recorded the album with Dwight Yoakam’s band.

His brand of country is ultra-traditional and his writing style is unconventional. Well worth checking out.

If you were fortunate enough to witness LANCO’S performance at 2019’s Long Road Festival, you will appreciate the buzz that this band have generated around their live performances. There is nobody with more enthusiasm and drive than Brandon Lancaster, who is the perfect front man for the band.

They are noted for their summertime anthems, and this is another to add to the ever-growing list. It was conceived whilst they were sitting on a patio in L.A., and completed upon their return to Nashville.

It’s their follow up to ‘What I See’, which is currently in the Top 40 on the Country charts.

Summer 2020 will not be remembered with any affection by those who enjoy listening to their country music at festivals with a cold beer in their hand.

It’s probably not the best year for a ‘Beer Anthem’, but it hasn’t stopped new US country artist Derek Johnson from throwing his hat into the ring.

He’s from Mobile, Alabama and this is follow up to ‘Real Cool Kinda Hot’, which managed to break into the top 50.

We had to include this powerful ballad from new country singer-songwriter Liv Charette, who has released ‘That Kind of Song’ as her debut single.

It was written by Andrew Dorff and Barry Dean, who have both had hit songs with Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw, amongst others.

The song was written eight years ago, and they were waiting for the perfect singer to perform it.

Liv’s from Ottawa, Canada and moved to Nashville five years ago.
