ELLE KING FT. MIRANDA LAMBERT – ‘DRUNK (AND I DON’T WANNA GO HOME)’

The video to this song has already featured on the Daily Mail’s website, which is not normally the go-to publication to read about the latest happenings in Country Music. It shows the pull that Elle King has.

The video highlights the weddings that were outrageously popular in the 80’s – big hair and pastels, and it features Miranda Lambert as the maid of honour.

Elle King recently married her partner Dan Tooker and has been pals with Miranda for a long time, having appeared on her ‘Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour’ in 2019 and also on the cover of ‘Fooled Around and Fell in Love’. They penned the song together pre-Covid.

WARD THOMAS FT. CAM – ‘DON’T BE A STRANGER’

The track was originally included on the girls’ ‘Invitation’ album, which was released last October. The new version features the stellar vocals of Cam, who adds a new dimension to the harmonies.

The vocals were recorded remotely and sent across by Cam’s team to the UK for the re-worked version. Great to see the best of our UK talent working with the top US country artists.

SCOOTER BROWN BAND – ‘COUNTRY AT ALL’

Plenty of fiddle and steel on a track that laments the lack of traditional country music on country radio.

Scooter Brown Band are mainstays on the Texan country scene. They are originally from Houston, but have relocated to Nashville where their talents are being noted with appearances at the Opry and plaudits in the mainstream music press.

TRENT HARMON – ‘SHE’S MY HEAVEN’

It’s been a while since we caught up with the latest releases from former American Idol winner Trent Harmon.

He won series 15 back in 2015, and his debut single ‘Falling’ was penned by Keith Urban with Dallas Davidson and Brett James, but to date he hasn’t made the breakthrough that was anticipated. He parted ways with Big Machine in May 2019 having made one album, ‘You Got ‘Em All’.

We are liking the energy in his new song, ‘She’s My Heaven’, which he wrote in Nashville with Rob Hatch, Paul Jenkins and Jason Sellers.

GABE LEE FT. KING MARGO – ‘OL’ SMOKEY’

Gabe Lee has revisited his debut album ‘Farmland’, which he released in 2019 before the fanfare created by his ‘Honky Tonk Hell’ album in 2020. He will be reimagining tracks from the earlier album and giving them the full band treatment.

This one was originally fully acoustic and Gabe said “we felt that some of our favourite songs from Farmland deserved a bigger sound and in doing so would take on a new life”.

We are loving the first release, ‘Ol’ Smokey’, which is an ideal way to discover the talents of Gabe Lee if you haven’t already jumped on that bandwagon.

BRANDY CLARK FT. LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM – ‘THE PAST IS THE PAST’

This was the closing track on Brandy’s last album, ‘Your Life Is a Record’, and will feature on her upcoming deluxe version, coming this Friday.

She’s assisted by Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham, who also produces and plays guitar on the track. Brandy describes Lindsey as one of her absolute heroes, and working with him was a “pinch me moment”.

The deluxe album debuts five new tracks, with Brandi Carlile featured on two – ‘Like Me’ and ‘Same Devil’.

PAYTON SMITH – ‘THIS AIN’T THAT SONG’

Payton Smith is signed with Big Machine, and featured in October’s Country Music Week virtual concerts which brightened our Autumn days.

He happened to be playing on a small stage at CMA fest 2018 when Scott Borchetta was walking by. He heard part of the performance, and was so impressed that he asked to hear some demos. This led to a recording contract with Big Machine, and was hopefully the start of a successful career.

‘This Ain’t That Song’ was written with Casey Beathard, and we are loving the rock-country vibe.

SLADE COULTER – ‘HEY MARY’

Another track that has a driving rock-country energy is the new release from singer-songwriter Slade Coulter.

He’s from Lubbock, Texas and is a rising star on the Texas scene, despite being on active service in the US Navy. He’s also managed by Dalton Domino.

Slade Coulter – definitely a name to keep tabs on.

NOAH SCHNACKY – ‘SHE BROKE MY HEART’

Another from the Big Machine roster is Noah Schnacky, who has released his new single ‘She Broke My Heart’, written with Laura Veltz and Lindsay Rimes, who have a strong pedigree as Nashville hit-makers.

It’s a radio-friendly take on the breakup theme, which has a positive spin. We are sure his 6.5 million TikTok followers will be loving the pop-country vibes!
