WILLIAM MICHAEL MORGAN – ‘GIRL LIKE MINE’

It is hard to believe that 5 years have passed since William Michael Morgan burst onto the scene with his debut single, ‘I Met A Girl’. It was clear we had seen the emergence of a major talent who embraced traditional country music.

He parted ways with Warner Music Nashville in January 2019 and is now an independent artist.

‘Girl Like Mine’ is the best song he has released since ‘I Met A Girl’, and the song he perhaps needed when he was with Warner. Don’t let this one drift away – it is simply awesome and should be on everyone’s playlists.

ALEX HALL FT. VINCE GILL – ‘NEVER SEEN THE WORLD’

We featured a track from the forthcoming project by Nashville-based singer-songwriter Alex Hall in our weekly update in October. On that occasion it featured John Osborne, but we mentioned that the album titled ‘Six Strings’ will be released in the new year, and features collaborations with a whole bunch of country artists.

We now have the second taster from the record, this time featuring the legend that is Vince Gill, now of course a fully fledged member of The Eagles.

Alex is signed with Monument Records and the song is based on his return visits to his native Georgia with his new wife.

TENILLE ARTS  – ‘A WINTER WONDERLAND’

Don’t confuse this with the standard ‘Winter Wonderland’. This is a new tune that Tenille Arts wrote at the end of November, and we like it a lot.

She started the year with a great album, ‘Love, Heartbreak and Everything In Between’, which is still on rotation for us, and she is finishing the year with a really nice original Christmas single to add to your festive playlists.

Look out for Tenille in 2021. She has unfinished business with the tunes from the album that deserve a wider audience.

CHASE RICE FT. FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE – ‘DRINKIN’ BEER. TALKIN’ GOD. AMEN.’

This one has gone straight into the Top 40 on country radio. Chase is on a roll; ‘Lonely If You Are’ and ‘Eyes On You’ were huge hits, and it’s a good sign if Wiki create a separate ‘Discography’ page, as is the case here!

FGL have a strong connection with Chase Rice. They lived together when they were beginning their careers, and wrote ‘Cruise‘ together.

‘Drinkin’ Beer’ was penned with Cale Dodds, Hunter Phelps and Corey Crowder before the pandemic, which now feels like it was a taste of what was to come. He’s also diversified to supplement his income, and has now become a Bison farmer! As you do…

ANNA VAUS  – ‘IN BLOOM’

Anna released her EP in September, ‘The California Kid’, and hails from Poway, California.

She’s now based in Nashville and was awarded the Miranda Lambert Woman Creators Fund, which enabled her to attend Belmont University. She later signed a publishing deal with Black River Entertainment, with an ambition to write a song that Little Big Town would sing.

Her singing career has progressed to include an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry and opening for Willie Nelson.

‘In Bloom’ is a song that really gets into your head and is pretty cool. With the right traction in the New Year, we might be hearing this record a lot.

CARLY PEARCE – ‘SHOW ME AROUND’

You just know that a song by Carly Pearce will be top drawer, and ‘Show Me Around’ is no exception.

This one is very special to her. It’s a tribute to her friend, mentor and producer, busbee, who passed away last year, written with Emily Shackleton and Ben West.

The single art for the song is a photo of busbee playing guitar, and it’s a song that she performed for the first time at the Grand Ole Opry in June.

CARTER FAITH – ‘EASY PILL’

The third single from Carter Faith is ‘Easy Pill’, written with Sam Hatmaker and Tiffany Goss.

She’s another rising country artist who benefited from a spell at Belmont University’s music course, and we were impressed with her earlier single ‘Leaving Tennessee’, which we featured back in June.

She’s another to keep a very close look out for in 2021. Her previous videos were premiered by CMT, who clearly have a belief in her talent and commercial appeal.

LIDDY CLARK – ‘WRAPPED UP IN ROSES’

It’s certainly a week for the ladies.

Texas native Liddy Clark, who spent her early years in Florida and who now resides in California, has released a song that describes what it would be like to fall in love “real quick”. She admits that it’s not a song that she wrote from any true life experiences, but was inspired by too many lock down hours watching ‘The Bachelor’ on US TV.

She cites her musical influences as Maren Morris and John Mayer, and you can certainly hear the MM vibes in the song.

CHUCK WICKS – ‘OLD WITH YOU’

Congratulations to Chuck and wife Kasi on the birth of their first child last Friday. A son, Tucker, born in Nashville. Tucker was born on the same day that he released this excellent new song, ‘Old With You’ written especially for Kasi.

It’s on the record that brother-in-law Jason Aldean supported the couple through many long and traumatic episodes of IVF treatment.

‘Old With You’ is Chuck’s second single release in two years.
