REVIEW: Brothers Osborne – ‘Pushing Up Daisies (Love Alive)’

LifeInASong_UK

Quick show of hands… who else will be totally in love with TJ’s vocals until they’re Pushing Up Daisies? See what I did there?

4/20 Needs to hurry the heck up – Port Saint Joe is set to be incredible. We have already been treated to the sultry Shoot Me Straight and now the guys have dropped the completely stunning, love-drenched Pushing Up Daisies.

It’s been just over 2 years since their debut album Pawn Shop and the guys have continued to blow up. CMA and ACMA awards, touring with some of the best in the biz and they have their first U.K and Ireland headline tour this spring! If you haven’t got tickets… I’m ashamed of you. That said, 6 of the 8 scheduled shows are completely SOLD OUT! Unless you live in Ireland or are willing to travel to Bristol, you’re missing out!

This will be the second studio album, with EMI Nashville, for Brothers Osborne. TJ and John co-wrote every song on the project, which is named after the small town in Florida, where it was recorded. The songwriters on the project are frequent collaborators and include Kendall Marvel, Lee Thomas Miller and Shane McAnally, among others.

We’ve heard the guys do soft before, with tracks like 21 Summer and Lovin’ Me Back with Lee Ann Womack, but Pushing Up Daisies is something else. It’s just beautiful. So simple and plucks on those heartstrings with raw emotion and honest lyrics. Delivered effortlessly by TJ and accompanied by yet another flawless guitar performance from John.

Till I held you close I never felt the feeling
And now I’ll feel that way till the last sunset goes down
You turned a stubborn southern boy into a believer
Believe me when I say it’s gonna stay that way till they lay me in the ground

SWOON!

It’s unforced, authentic and totally dreamy. Something that, in the current country scene, is very rare. Excuse me while I drown my sorrows in the pre-order for the next week… However, 2 songs REALLY isn’t enough!
