Following the release of his 18-track album ‘Didn’t Do This On My Own’ last month, singer-songwriter and actor Rob Mayes has debuted the reflective new track, ‘I’ll Bet’.
Written solely by Mayes, ‘I’ll Bet’ was produced by Smith Curry and mastered by Grammy-nominated Andrew Mendelson.
Opening up about the meaning behind the song Mayes shares: “I’ll Bet’ tackles our vices, with gravity and hope – reminding us to perhaps slow down, take a breath, and enjoy this life, while also being wholly accountable for ourselves, and not throwing scapegoats under the proverbial bus and deflecting responsibility and misplacing blame – ‘can only do what you can, can’t do what you can’t, and if you’re trying your best, then that ain’t the demons, it’s you I’ll bet..’”
‘I’ll Bet’ is Mayes’ second new song of 2021, following the release of ‘Simple’ in January. Fans can expect more new music over the coming months.
Outside of music, Mayes is one of the stars of iHeart’s podcast series ‘Make It Up As We Go’ alongside Billy Bob Thornton, Miranda Lambert and Dennis Quaid. The scripted Country musical podcast follows the story of an aspiring female songwriter played by Scarlett Burke, as she tries to make it in the music industry.
