SINGLE REVIEW: Danielle Bradbery – ‘Sway’

We all love a bit of sound advice from our favourite Country Music artists, right? The appeal of Country Music for me was always my ability to take something away from each song. 20 year old, Big Machine Records artist Danielle Bradbery does not disappoint with her latest song ‘Sway’.

Danielle has been quiet of late, since entering the voice (season 4) at just 16 years old, going on to win the competition and releasing her self-titled album all in the same year. Danielle did make a fleeting return with ‘Friend Zone’ in 2015 but I for one am keeping my fingers tightly crossed that she’s here for the long haul this time.

The track definitely has a Country vibe but personally, I can hear some pop and r&b influences. Having said that, for me, this has been so eagerly awaited that all sins are forgiven with the introduction of “Sway” to the Country Music world just last week.

Simple, sweet and happy with a melody that urges you to do exactly what it says on the tin. Sway!

“Hey, world’s kind of messed up, we’ve got no time for sitting around” A poignant lyric, right in the midst of recent events – taking Danielle’s advice and kicking off our shoes, calling up friends and embracing the music might be exactly the tonic that is needed right now.

‘Sway’ was created with the help of writers and composers Johan Fransson and Emily Weisband. Both come with their own impressive CVs and I have no doubt this song will be another one for their success list.

On tweeting the download link to her fans, Danielle wrote “It took us three years to get to this place but we are finally here. ‘Sway’ is available everywhere now!”

The track has been well received across the Country Music world both by fans and fellow artists alike, with tweets of support and congratulations coming in from the likes of Jana Kramer and Maddie & Tae.

On a personal note, I am full up of excitement on this one which is a far cry from the calibre of music we heard on her debut album, a much more mature, original sound. I am literally on the edge of my seat awaiting what comes next. Keep them coming Danielle, we are waiting with open ears.

My possibly biased score comes in at 8/10 on this one! Happy fan!
