An album that only just missed the cut for our top 10 last year was Mo Pitney’s debut album ‘Behind This Guitar’. It had been a long time coming, 2 years after the lead single ‘Country’ was released. It’s a country traditionalist’s dream album – Mo’s stunning voice is just about as country as it gets, and these songs are written from the heart. It’s raw, it’s open, it’s honest and it’s damn good country music.

Our pick of the tracks is ‘Take The Chance’, a little song of encouragement for a hesitant romantic. Traditional instrumentation at its very best:
