SPOTLIGHT: Jenna Paulette – ‘ILYSM’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Rising country star Jenna Paulette released a brand new single on Friday, “ILYSM.” The powerful track describes the blissful times in a relationship when everything feels pure and heightened between you and a lover. “ILYSM” is the follow up to Jenna’s song, “Coolest Girl In The World” featured on Radio Disney Country and Apple Music’s “Breaking Country” playlist.

Jenna is breaking into the country scene with a sound she describes as “New West,” a traditional feel with a modern twist. She also performs with Song Suffragettes, a female-only showcase in Nashville and was a part of their recent song, “Time’s Up.”

Jenna Paulette has always been somewhat of a walking juxtaposition – a mix of laid-back country casual adopted from her time on the family ranch along the Texas/Oklahoma border, and the big city glam she’s picked up in her travels along the way.

She’s spent much of her life drawing from both worlds, trying to define herself and her sound. The result is an ironically harmonious blend Jenna refers to as the New West. “It’s a combination of old and new, keeping tradition but being apart of the modern world,” she says. “It’s a representation of the two worlds I grew up in – a balance of the two. My mom’s side is ranching; my dad’s side is the big city sales-type. In everything I do, the way I dress, write, perform, even cook – my entire self is the New West.” Surprising to many, considering her love of ranching,

I got my degree in visual communications (advertising and graphic design) after hearing that Kenny Chesney had gotten his degree in advertising – I admired the brand he had created for himself. I wanted to understand how to properly position myself as a country artist. I made friends on campus who are each amazing at what they do in styling, branding and other fields. Now they work with me on my career. It’s the biggest blessing to have people that truly know you help develop you.”

After college, Jenna moved to Nashville, and last year she enlisted the help of producers Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne) and Lee Holland. The result of the collaboration is the sound of Jenna’s New West. “It has this traditional feel with a clean modern twist. I went into the project wanting pop rhythms, mandolin for texture, but for pedal steel to be the leading lady. I’m a big George Strait fan, and in every song I’ve ever loved, the pedal steel sent shivers down my back.” Her debut single, Coolest Girl in the World, is a prime example of that. Co- written by Jenna, Jordan Reynolds (Keith Urban, “Getting in the Way”; Lauren Alaina, “Three”) and Sydney Cubit, Jenna’s effortless conversational vocal on the up-tempo tune delivers a message everyone can relate to. “You’re either the guy, wanting to make the girl feel like she’s the girl in the song on the radio, or you’re the girl, wishing you were one of the ‘girls they sing about.’”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_raw_html]JTNDaWZyYW1lJTIwc3JjJTNEJTIyaHR0cHMlM0ElMkYlMkZvcGVuLnNwb3RpZnkuY29tJTJGZW1iZWQlMkZ0cmFjayUyRjUySHBNaFhqdnlEeklwZE1LRERzMzMlMjIlMjB3aWR0aCUzRCUyMjgwMCUyMiUyMGhlaWdodCUzRCUyMjM1MCUyMiUyMGZyYW1lYm9yZGVyJTNEJTIyMCUyMiUyMGFsbG93dHJhbnNwYXJlbmN5JTNEJTIydHJ1ZSUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRmlmcmFtZSUzRQ==[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
