Alt-folk trio Wildwood Kin have shared a brand new isolation session video of the song ‘Headed For The Water’. Although separated by lockdown in Devon, Derby and London, the three musicians recorded their parts individually.
Utilising a variety of instruments (including some improvised percussion) alongside their elegant vocal harmonies, it sounds as natural as if they were together in the same room. The video was then edited by the band’s Beth Key.
‘Headed For The Water’ was chosen after Wildwood Kin launched a public vote to choose a song for them to record in isolation. It was also a staple of their recent live shows.
“We had various difficulties sending files between each other with many hour-long uploads freezing so this project took us a lot longer than we expected but we hope now it’s here that those who voted for it will enjoy it!” explains Beth. “We’re missing each-other loads, we think this is possibly the longest we’ve been apart for many, many yearsso this is the closest we can get to each other and our fans”.
“It’s been such a blessing to have the ability to connect with people digitally throughout this time. We didn’t realise how much we’ve taken performing live for granted until now,” adds Meg.
