What happens when master songwriter Shane McAnally teams up with Trevor Rosen and Sam Hunt? The result is a very tasty mid tempo ballad ‘I Met A Girl’ that happens to be the debut single for newcomer William Michael Morgan.

It features on Morgan’s 6 track EP that has just been released on Warner Brothers Nashville. The single was released towards the end of 2015 and has already spent 10 weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, William has chosen to pursue the more traditional country angle. His music includes copious use of fiddles and slide guitars, and he has an excellent baritone voice. He is 22 years of age but actually sounds much older.

The supporters of old style traditional country music will champion William Michael Morgan. There seems to be a resurgence of younger guys that are distancing themselves from modern ‘bro-country’. Think Sam Outlaw and Andrew Combs, and it’s good to see that a major Nashville label is providing the opportunity for Morgan to make an impact.

A special mention has to be given to ‘Lonesomeville’, a fiddle and slide guitar-backed sweet ballad that perfectly showcases the deep vocal style.

We have included a link to the video for the latest single ‘I Met A Girl’ below, and we recommend delving a little deeper if your taste veers towards the old school country style.
