Logan Mize is fastly becoming a force to be reckoned with in country music. The Kansas native has over 28M on his song, “Ain’t Always Pretty” and his newest single, “Somebody To Thank” is steadily climbing with over 2M streams. Budweiser also sponsors a series with Logan titled, “Somebody To Thank” where every month Logan will spotlight someone in his life he has to thank. His latest project, Come Back Road debuted in the Top 20 on Billboard and iTunes All-Genre charts along with peaking at #6 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. Come Back Round also debuted at #2 on iTunes Country chart. Logan is a fighter and has been making his way up in the Nashville music scene for many years now, and this year could be his year.
Catherine McGrath had one hell of a year in 2017. Having signed to Warner Music, she supported the likes of Kelsea Ballerini, Canaan Smith and Dan + Shay on their UK tours and built up some phenomenal statistics in the streaming world. ‘Thought It Was Gonna Be Me’ became her ninth consecutive song to be added to the ‘New Music Friday UK’ playlist on Spotify and she now has nearly a quarter of a million monthly listeners. Having co-written in Nashville with the likes of Liz Rose and more support slots no doubt on the horizon, 2018 could be the real breakout year for Catherine.
Filmore is bringing some unique sounds to the country music scene with a Sam Hunt vibe. Songs like “You Know You Wanna” has a traditional country base with Pop and R&B vibes intertwined. He placed Top 10 in Budlight Battle of the Band in 2016. “You Know You Wanna” has over 763K Spotify streams and his song, “Headlights” has over 2M. He’s performed with artists like Canaan Smith, Michael Ray, and Chase Rice. Filmore could be a huge part of evolving country music in 2018.
Ryan Griffin’s biggest claim to fame so far has been co-writing Kelsea Ballerini’s #1 single, “Dibs,” but that’s sure to change in 2018. He released his debut EP Sake of the Summer earlier this year. A song off this EP, “Woulda Left Me Too” connected with fans so much it was featured on Spotify’s viral chart and is steadily climbing with over 3.7M Spotify streams. He recently inked a deal with Busbee who’s produced music for Carly Pearce, P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, and Kelly Clarkson so it’s sure to be a big year for Ryan.
Devin Dawson, another one of Warner Music’s prospects, is set to release his first full album, ‘Dark Horse’, on January 19th. He’s already bagged his first top 15 hit on country radio with the soulful ‘All On Me’, and he’s been tipped by the likes of People, Elle, CMT, The Boot and more as one of the ‘Ones To Watch’ this year. The single has accumulated nearly 50 MILLION on-demand streams, received over 350,000 Shazam tags, and is included on Amazon Music’s Best All-Genre and Country Songs of 2017 playlists alongside Spotify’s Hot Country: Best of 2017 playlist.
The Reklaws are brother/sister duo from Canada signed to Universal Canada. Their current single, “Hometown Kids” has over 787K Spotify streams and they have 60K+ Monthly Spotify listeners. They even charted at #11 on Spotify Canada’s Viral 50 and their single is officially Top 15 at Canadian Country Radio and climbing. They’ve been lucky enough to perform with artists like Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, and Thomas Rhett. Their numbers don’t lie, and they’ve started visiting and co-writing in Nashville so it’s not long before we hear more about them.
JAMES BARKER BAND
James Barker Band is another Canadian band with a big 2018 in store. Their former single “Chills” has been featured on Spotify’s Wild Country playlist and it reached #1 on Canadian country radio. Another track from their EP, Game On is doing really well. Their new single, “It’s Working” now has over 1M Spotify streams. They’ve performed with Keith Urban on his 2017 ripCORD tour and Dierks Bentley is a fan of theirs too. They’ll also be playing with Chase Bryant and High Valley at Jingle Jam in Portland, Maine on Dec. 13th.
Newcomer Jillian Jacqueline released her first Big Loud Records EP, SIDE A, across all digital platforms last year. The bold project boasts two brand-new songs, four recently released critically acclaimed tracks, and effortlessly raw acoustic recordings that have fans buzzing about the razor-sharp rising star. Invited to co-write with some of the biggest names in Music City – including Craig Wiseman, Shane McAnally, Natalie Hemby, Rodney Clawson, Chris Tompkins, Lori McKenna and more – she’s been dubbed a “dazzling chanteuse-wordsmith” by Rolling Stone.
Emma White’s making her mark already – all without a label, manager, or publisher behind her. She was recently named one of Rolling Stone Country’s ‘10 New Country Artists You Need to Know‘ in October, plus sang the National Anthem at the LA Lakers game previously. Songs from her recent self-titled EP have been featured on Spotify’s New Boots playlist and the songs have garnered over 1.5M streams… all as an independent artist. The EP integrates sounds of country, R&B, and pop throughout, and was produced by the same producer for Brothers Osborne and Maren Morris.
Melanie Meriney’s current single is “Lifeboat“, which reached No. 2 on the UK’s Hot Disc Chart and she was nominated for Nashville Independent Music Award (NIMA) award for Best Female Country Artist. She’s also gotten the chance to perform with Little Big Town, Journey, and Fleetwood Mac.
Jordan Davis’ debut single “Singles You Up” (UMG Nashville) which he co-wrote with Steven Dale Jones and Justin Ebach, spent spending several weeks on the Spotify US Viral Chart (all genre). “Singles You Up” even hit the Spotify Global Viral Chart (all genre) and was the No.1 “thumbed up” song on Pandora’s New Country station. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, Jordan has made a strong impression on critics and audiences alike with his classic lyric-writing melded with tech-tinged production. After graduating from LSU in 2012 with a degree in Resource Conservation, Jordan moved to Nashville and honed his songwriting craft influenced by his love of lyrically-driven songwriters and genre-defying musicality.
Christina Taylor is bursting onto the country music scene with support from both Radio Disney Country and Spotify New Boots playlist. Her song, “That Girl” has over 365K Spotify streams and the music video for her song, “Don’t Look Good In Your T-Shirt Anymore” is a fan favorite.
